Business Intelligence (BI)

The purpose of this course is to establish a sound theoretical basis of the field of Business Intelligence (BI). Students will examine the development of systems designed to capture relevant data from all segments of an enterprise, to organize the data into a coherent structure and provide the means to analyze the data in order to make rational decisions. Concepts and current methodologies for creating On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) databases will be explored and compared. Students will learn to develop Key Performance Indicators, dashboards and scorecards and will be exposed to hands-on exercises with a business intelligence tools to create, process, browse and secure data cubes of various designs.
